The use of refractory materials within primary and secondary copper production and copper foundries is crucial to ensuring efficient process management and consistent product quality.

The extreme temperatures required in these processes can cause cracking due to thermal shock (rapid temperature fluctuations). However, the addition of Fibrex fibres in refractory monolithics and pre-cast reduces the effects of thermal shock to greatly enhance material durability and reduce unplanned downtime. The application of Fibrex fibres significantly decreases the risk of cracking due to the complex network of fibres created within the refractory material and positively reduces crack propagation, which extends the operating life of the refractory and reduces the risk of production failure.
