The use of refractory materials within primary and secondary aluminium production and aluminium foundries is crucial to ensuring efficient process management and consistent product quality.

Extreme temperatures are required in these processes, which can cause issues with cracking as a result of thermal shock (rapid temperature fluctuations). However, the addition of Fibrex fibres in refractory monolithics and pre-cast reduces the effects of thermal shock to greatly enhance material durability and reduce unplanned downtime. The application of Fibrex fibres significantly decreases the risk of cracking due to the complex network of fibres created within the refractory material and positively reduces crack propagation, which extends the operating life of the refractory and reduces the risk of production failure.
