Fibrex

Fibrex fibres are used across a wide-range of industries to reinforce refractories and concretes where thermal and mechanical shock, aggressive chemical attack, and corrosive factors severely impact operating performance. The addition of Fibrex fibres to materials and significantly enhances structural integrity, thermal shock and corrosion resistance and extends the lifecycle of these materials to reduce unplanned maintenance downtime.

Melt Extract

Melt extract fibres are produced using the patented i-melt® technology, a novel production method, utilising the innovative Rapid Solidification Technology (RST) process to quench molten stainless steel at >10,000⁰c per second, resulting in excellent crack propagation prevention.

Using melt extract production techniques, fibres can be engineered for custom alloys, lengths, widths and diameters. The process involves using centrifugal force, which results in a unique crescent geometry, characterised by a kidney-shaped cross-section. This provides melt extract fibres with superior mechanical anchoring or mechanical bonding properties, as well as a significant greater surface area when compared to drawn wire or slit sheet.

Fibretech has an extensive history of melt extract fibres, as part of the pioneering group for the development of melt extract process and the patented i-melt® technology.

Melt Overflow

Melt Overflow is a unique process developed through decades of research that leverages further our patented i-melt® technology to increase the RST quenching rate to >1,000,000⁰c per second. This results in fibre material with exceptional thermal properties for crack propagation prevention in extreme operating conditions.

Fibres can be produced in ferritic and non-ferritic stainless steels as well as a wide-range of other metals and alloys, providing bespoke engineering capabilities. Fibre sizes can also be specified by length and diameter, providing further capability for a complete engineered solution.

Cold Drawn Wire

Drawn wire fibres are produced using a cold drawing technique to enhance the tensile strength, hardness, and durability of the material before it is precision cut to the specified size. Wire drawing offers an alternative method of fibre production, which is used to produce fibres with a smooth surface and a uniform dimension profile.

Fibrex drawn wire fibres can be produced as hooked-end or wavy shapes and are used extensively used within refractories due to their excellent temperature resistance. Fibrex HCA is the market-leading High-Chrome-Aluminium (FeCrAl) used globally to enhance refractory longevity.
