Fibres are added to shotcrete or concrete to significantly improve the strength and toughness of civil engineering structures. They can be used in conjunction with mesh and rebar systems and can be used for new build or repair work.

Fibre reinforced structures provide a cost effective solution to increase the life of buildings, bridges, roads and tunnelling. They are a more flexible solution to conventional concrete reinforcement where it is not possible to use mesh or rebar due to practical constraints or limited access.

Fibres also allow Architects and Construction Engineers to build structures that are simply not possible with concrete alone. It's also an ideal solution for repair work. This can potentially reduce the overall amount of material used resulting in:

Fibrex SF is a stainless steel fibre which is ideally suited for application in wet and cold climates, especially where the concrete is exposed to salt. Chlorides, including salt, can promote corrosion of steel fibres in concrete due to the porous nature of the material, and this in turn can lead to premature failure. Fibrex SF has excellent corrosion resistance compared to coated steel fibres.
